Honouring my roots and ancestors of Wiradjuri and Mununjali country.
ART WORK DESCRIPTION
This artwork represents my grandmothers country, Mununjali. Our country is encapsulated by mountains, each mountain had a different purpose eg. men/woman mountains. These mountains came with different stories, different customs and different responsibilities. The fresh water that flows through these mountains are similar to the blood that flows through our veins. It sustains us and gives us life.
The mountains depicted in this piece represent the Darlington range, with the water flowing through the valley symbolising Christmas Creek. The water that flows through this valley comes from Migunburri country and connects to Mununjali country. The water that flows through this valley is one of the highest Lore places on country.
The dots surrounding the valley represent the different clans/mobs visiting and learning. The pink and white dots looking down into the valley represent our ancestors and elders watching us and guiding us.
